This is going to be the last one for a while, as I've hit all the bases I wanted to polish following initial release! Thanks all, and please do play the game. Balancing and Errata are the main things that will be covered in later PDF versions. We want to mark these off before finalizing our printing plans, which is in the cards but still very much down the line. Thank you so much, and rejoice always in the glory of combat!

1.04 Changelog

  • Tweaked the Murderglaves’ Monster Monstrance. The Aspects now do the following:
    • MAKAYAO/MAHAKALA: Multiple hands, Murderous Intent, Peaceful Smile. While in this aspect, Whenever you are attacked, gain a Murder Charge, up to 5. You are immune to all non-attack Hits and have +1 Defend against all attacks.
    • ST. QALI/KALAKATRI: Wicked Grin, Burning Eyes, Razor Weapons. While in this aspect, whenever you make a melee attack, you may consume X Murder Charges to add +X Hits when you attack. Additionally, you have +1 Speed.
  • Fixed missing Inflict Violence Heading in Death Dancer
  • Fixed the Witch’s 5-8 Gambit: Cursed Suggestion, now properly says Burst 1 instead of Blast 1.
  • Martyr’s Faith Unending now has the following additional effect: +1 Beat to strike with overpowering strength: every 5- on your next Attack’s Attack Teeth either inflicts 1 Hit on an adjacent target or turns an adjacent square into difficult terrain.
  • Martyr’s Crescent Cleaves The Earth: You no longer suffer penalties when you throw your weapon
  • Interjects have been removed. They’ve always been kind of awkward in the game and a holdover of an old playtest version (as evidenced by them being largely uncommon across the Disciplines, the NPCs not using them at all, and the game not needing a major overhaul at all with its removal). Most of the Interject techniques now have you spending a Beat to gain an off-turn advantage, so defenses are active. The following techniques have been changed:
    • Rayasaiwa’s Vigil [Kawal]
    • Live Hand [Mangangayaw]
    • Shadow Ritualist [Headtaker]
    • Everywhere All At Once Meditation [Tigpana]
    • Kalabit Diablo [Baril Witch]
    • Blackened God Body [Murderglave]
    • Sword Judas [Sword Saint]
    • Hornbill Step [Heavenspear]
    • Rolling Thunder [Starshooter]
  • Third Eye Gem has been changed as well: At Strike 3+, the First Hit on all your Faith Attacks become True Hits.
  • Tweaked a large number of Techniques that have an additional effect per 6+/7+/8+ to give a baseline of 1 stack of that effect, to remove any lulls wherein the dice make it so that nothing happens.
  • Tweaked the Encounters of the Sword Devil, so that it is not too overwhelming as a starter module.
  • Tweaked Casting The Crocodile’s Teeth and made it clearer. Number of Difficulty Teeth rolled is now dependent on your Moxie, which is analogous to Position in Forged In The Dark games.
  • Clarified Moons as well, giving more examples and playable usage. Ventures and Raids are now done through their own Moons.
  • Tweaked Honor so that it’s easier to use and understand, alongside Debt, to better represent the honor, glory, and debt societies of Gubat Banwa.
  • Tweaked default advancement so that you don’t have to track XP anymore.
  • Removed most mentions of Merit Dice and Sensitivity, Grace, etc., as those are vestigial.
  • You now get a Thunderbolt Token when you find Failure when you Cast The Crocodile’s Teeth as well as if all your Hits are canceled out on a Violence Cast.
  • Clarified that Kadungganan always Fulminates last on every Strike
  • Changed the Tumbaga Rule to say that generally you round up instead of round down.
  • Added an additional note in Violence, the Battle Meditation, a short fictional rule that assumes open information in tactical combat.
  • Added a new Divination: Settlement Generator at p. 338
  • Added final Area of Effect Art!
