Ohoy Kadungganan!

To that end I've done some polishing on the game! This is all informed by feedback by those playing earlier stuff, so I hope everyone enjoys the direction of Gubat Banwa. As we change things along, we're also reaching a very polished point where I'm mostly happy about the game as it is. Soon I'll be moving forward to working on other material for the game, so please look forward to that.

1.3 Changelog

Less detailed than before, I recommend reading the book itself. A bunch has changed but mostly fluff stuff.

Major Changes

  • Alignments have been redefined to be more specific and easier to understand where they will be used. A new Sword, Crown and Mask system is in place to help define characters more and also grant innate Elemental affinities
  • Sunder is now "All your Defense Teeth generate Defends on 7+ now."
  • Rush is now "Can move through enemies but not end in them. Ignores Difficult and Dangerous Terrain."
  • Heavenspear is now a rapid striking movement Raider instead of Momentum, with a focus on Rush, Fly, and Juggle
  • A lot of the Techniques’ effects have been tweaked relative to developments and realizations about the game’s Action Economy.
  • Most Area Attacks now cost 2 Beats unless they're a Witch or Sharpshooter
  • HP has been increased to account for the large variance of attacks, make it easier to divide by quarters, and to fix the stunted pacing of most fights. The goal is still 3-4 Strikes with an average of 3 Fulminations per Kadungganan
  • Weather has been tweaked, to try and make it more of a major player when thinking of fights. Additionally an Indoor Weather has also been added Violence takes place within buildings and such.
  • Burning and Tall Grass Terrain is gone. Most of them are folded into the new singular Elemental Terrain, which includes terrain of each element. Tall Grass Terrain is now part of Earth Terrain, and Burning Terrain is now part of Fire Terrain. This means you can’t really stack multiple elemental terrain (as they are the same terrain).

NPC Changes

  • HP has been adjusted.
  • Stats are now tied to Style (eg., all Raiders have the same Martial Abilities etc).
  • Each Style now has a Style Trait. Types still maintain their unique Traits, so that's 2 Traits at minimum, 3 at most
  • Every Enemy now has inherent Elemental affinities.

Minor Changes

  • Fixed a syntax mistake that invoked the wrong deities.
  • All Techniques have had their "+1 Beats" given names, are now known as Refinements.
  • Added a section about needing masters to learn new techniques in "Your Legend Grows"
  • New Art!
  • Ability Up and Down (ie., BRV Up, BRV Down, etc.) now modifies a stat by 2 instead of 1.
