Early Access 2

Rejoice in the glory of combat!

A long road to this one. This last update for the year, and I think, the best one as well. Lots of hard learned lessons, and there’s still some more, with balancing coming in.

But, as large as I’m making this, this is a small update. No character sheet overhauls needed for this one.

Let’s start with the new stuff:

  • Heavenspear Art. And with it, all the Core Disciplines are done, art-wise!
  • New Debuffs. Chilled, Burned, Gentled, Frightened. Clarified is no longer a buff.
  • New Layout! It’s pretty now.
  • Origin Classes! Most of the Origins now have unique classes that you can deploy.
    • Virbanwa: Conscript, Heneral
    • Gatusan: Land Raider, Despot
    • Akai: Trickster, Knight
    • Apumbukid: Makinaadmanon
    • Ba-e: Angel Slaver, Artifactsmith
    • Undead: Patianak
    • Spirit: Tempest God
    • Yawa: Warrior Yawa, Healer Yawa
    • Baikhan: Teahouse Chimera Cloth Student, Baikhan Geomancer
    • Issohappan: Angel, Hidalgo Estrella
  • New Improvement System: You now rise in Prestige after 4 Esteem instead of 5. Then, when you rise in Prestige, you can choose to get an Improvement instead of a Teaching (Attainments in EA1). When you get an Improvement, you choose a Teaching level of a particular Discipline that you already have. You then gain the Mastery 1 of both Technicks in that Teaching. If you already have Mastery 1, you get Mastery 2. If you have Mastery 2, then you get the Perfected. Each of these Improvements stack, eventually perfecting a Technick. In this way, one can fully focus on a single Discipline, although of course you will be lacking the broad versatility and abilities of one who wishes to focus on different Disciplines.
  • Discipline Damage. Damage has been quashed down for the most part. Disciplines now have two stats: Physical and Magick damage. And most Technicks will say whether it deals physical or magick damage. You then roll the dice of that Discipine’s damage stat.

Some Changes

  • Damage
    • Glancing is just half damage now.
    • Strengthened and Precise both stack, and are now called Strengthen and Precision. How they work are explained in the book.
  • Warband Property and Datuship are no longer in the book. It doesn’t build upon the game and only fluffs the book up more. It will return however in a future supplemental zine.

That’s it.

It’s been a long ride to get here. Dyl and I and everyone working on this damn thing thank you so much. The future is looking bright. Thank you for braving these isles with us.

Also, please look forward to next week Friday. We’ll see you then!
