GUBAT BANWA 0.9! - ⚡⚔ DESTINY STORMS FROM EACH FINGERTIP

Ohoy, Kadungganan! 0.9 is less a mechanical overhaul and more of a content drop. All the Core Disciplines are done! That makes for 35 Disciplines, 7 for each Role. This was a huge endeavor and most of the mechanical bits of the Core Rulebook are down. The foundation is set. Any more edits down the line will definitely be balancing, tweaking, and costing!

New Content

Added some more lore to the four main religions and a creation myth for each one. Also changed their names:

  • Tuong-Likas - Anito
  • Tuong-Hiyang - Hiyang
  • Tuong-Gahum - Sampalataya
  • Tuong-Bulan - Iman

New Disciplines!

Aghaman Alchemist. Spiritual Control. Self-alchemists that master the natural world and the path of essence to manipulate the beings within the battlefield.

Bahandi Battlecounter. Occult Support. Change the battlefield and bolster souls with a deep mystical knowledge of the sacred numbers.

Combat Tambalan. Occult Support. Healers and combat medics that stay in the frontlines to support their allies with prepared poultices and readied healing items.

Dumog Demonbreaker. Spiritual Control. Grapplers that can seize hell and change the earth itself with arts that shake the pillars of heaven.

Gahum Headhunter. Spiritual Raider. Masters of the ritual art of killing, and practitioners of the holy tradition of decapitation. Warriors that preserve yet at the same time blaspheme the holy rite of killing.

Pak-an Skyshrike. Spiritual Raider. A heaven-scourging warrior that is a master at polearms. Through their heaven-rending arts they take to the skies upon spiritual arts and kites to bring the truth like a spear unto the world: there is no throne in heaven.

Sipa Starshooter. Natural Marksman. Warriors and experts of the sport of Sipa, using their advanced knowledge of the art to inflict violence, making even the smallest mote of dust a deadly ball projectile.

Changes

Kadungganan Related

  • Changed Kadungganan Rank to Esteem and Kadungganan Tier to Prominence, to hammer in the fact that as you grow in strength you grow in fame and infamy. The more you butt heads with the world, the more it will notice you, for better or for worse.
  • The four Prominences are renamed: 1 is Lingid, 2 is Kilala, 3 is Bantug, and 4 is Karanduun.

Combat Related

  • Reactions: Renamed Out of Phase Actions to simply Reactions. Two kinds of Reactions: Response Reactions happen after the trigger, while Interrupt Reactions happen before. You have 2 Actions on your Phase, but 2 Reactions per Round.
  • Conditions: Frightened, Hindered, and Juggled are now written: You have -1 Out of Phase Action.
  • Obfuscation: Treat fighting within an obfuscated area as if attacking someone with half cover, even in melee.
  • Minimum and Maximum Range: You cannot attack a target below or beyond your range. Weapons: Added in a sling weapon example.
  • Made it so that moving into a space that is 1 Elevation higher than yours now takes up 2 move.
  • Elevation 2 now can count as Blocking Terrain if your target is on the other side of a space 2 Elevations higher than yours.
  • Shortbows and Longbows now ignore blocking terrain since they arc.
  • A bunch of Marksmen got the ability to ignore half cover.
  • Clarified that Techniques are affected by conditions and debuffs (if you're Immobilized you can't move even when a Technique tells you to).
  • Made it so Marked forces a -2 damage instead of just -1.

Discipline Related

  • The Makinaadmanong Luthangan's fluff has been edited, and they have been renamed into "Baril Witch". Makinaadmanon is a particularly important term in the setting now, akin to bodhisattva in Buddhism. Their techniques are now known as Sorcerous Gun Techniques. Changed a bunch of the Technique's wordings to include handguns.
  • A slew of tweaks and balancings to the Disciplines, check yours out.

For the MA

  • Tier names for foes are removed, they're just "Tier 1, Tier 2, etc."
  • Chiefs now are x4 Mettle instead of just x3. Mettle ratings stay the same. I've found that keeping it relatively small but keeping damage high is a good way of enforcing tension without battles dragging for too long.

That's it for now Kadungganan! The next release will be the first adventure module for this game, Musanghari! Coming sometime at the end of July, early August!
