0.2 Update

New logo! Look slick, right? Also  you might have noticed the revamped cover, all works of @Huhsmile over at Twitter.

So in my rush to get this game out in time for Session Zero, I noticed one character aspect that I was supposed to put in but slipped my editing. So I'm uploading the newly added one here as the 0.2 update for the Manggugubat book!

How Updates Will Work

While I'm here, I'll define how I'll be doing updates. This is a pretty thick game, and I'm already on the works writing additional content for it (although not in the same mad dash and in a much more enjoyable pace). In addition, the game is still getting art as our artist rolls in Profession Art and more.

Updates to the files will happen weekly, usually Sunday evening or Monday morning my time, GMT +8. Only if there are updates during that week, of course. If there are none, there will be no update. This is how I'll be going forward for the game's update as we go through early access/open beta. This will include edits to the rules and mechanics as I receive feedback, mostly over in the Discord.

Anyway, on to what's added on 0.2:

0.2 Changes

Professions now have Profession Proficiencies. These are weapons and armor they can wield without Penalty. This isn't as limiting as other systems with Professions: for example, if you're not Proficient in a certain type of Armor, you can still wear that armor, you just won't get the Resist bonus that Light and Heavy Armor usually get. This is so that there are mechanical incentives to wearing certain types of armor, to reinforce the aesthetics and fantasy of each Profession, but not too limiting so that those that want to go wild with builds can still do so.

Weapons and Armor are categorized differently. Instead of Main Weapon and Side Weapon, there are now 1H Melee, 2H Melee, Light Ranged, and Heavy Ranged. Armor is no longer piecemeal, but there is a main Armor that you wear, which is either Light or Heavy. On top of that you can wear Auxiliary Armor: Helmets, Leggings, Gloves, and Trinkets. This streamlines the equipment while being enough to indulge in the armor focus and fantasy so prevalent in Filipino Folk Epics.

Tweaked Ranges. Made ranges much shorter in relation to characters, to encourage moving around as much as possible. This was encouraged by replays of Tactics Ogre, wherein ranged weapons usually don't go beyond 10 or 15 spaces.

NOTE: Late but I also updated the monster stat blocks in the Mangaawit Book to reflect the Ranged tweaks.

NOTE 2: Fixed an error wherein the farmer tuhay background had the same text as the Hayohay. Please do update your files! Next update should be sometime next week.

That's it for now, I think. I hope you enjoy the game, and if you want to run or play games, feel free to jump into the Discord server, which is linked in the main itch page!
