\Karanduun - Make God Bleed Edition!

Live in love, righteousness, and rebellion, and MAKE GOD BLEED.

The first major content update for Karanduun! However this will be the only major “core rules” overhaul/revamp as, after almost three months of play and watching others play, I’ve picked up and crafted something that I’m happy with, and I hope helps guide Karanduun games in the future.

Major Changes

Traits

The largest update are the traits: split into two: 3 “Natures”  (methods of action) and 7 “Skills” (the kinds of actions). When rolling, you add a Nature and Skill together. An example Nature is “Rebellious”, and an example Skill is “Inquisition”. When you Steal the Secrets of God, you roll Rebellious Inquisition, adding both of them together to build your dice pool.

I made it this way to help the AC when she needs to call for an impromptu roll that the Acts usually don’t cover, as well as to open the field for more character granularity. Just a bit, as a treat. Additionally, both 7 and 3 are both important numbers in the folklore and mythology within Karanduun itself. Rolling and everything else is still the same, however. Each Skill is also connected to a Tungkulin.

Advancement

  • Gahum Tiers have been removed. 
  • Yaman is removed.
  • Gahum is now the measure of power and, subsequently, currency (in the setting Gahum, solidified power, is used as currency after Creation is killed and God has died).
  • One buys Verses, Skill and Nature raises, and Ginhawa raises (Ginhawa starts at 3 now and goes up to 10) by spending Gahum and/or finding them in the world itself.
  • A bunch of new Acts now known as Acts of Attainment. One such example is the Seek Power Attainment which works as the Downtime Act.

Ranges

Ranges now calculated in “Melee, Close, Far, Distant, and Gone”. 

Other than that, everything stays the same, with the Verses updated to fit the new core rules and reinforced design principles! I recommend looking at how the Acts of Violence (Combat Acts) have changed.

Content Updates

Generators

Ginhawa location generator table and Umalagad teacher (for teaching Verses to characters). 

Verses

7 new Verses for each Tungkulin! 1 new Basic, 3 new Advanced, and a new category of Verses called Maestro Verses, with 3 new ones.

Martial Arts

A lot of new ones! A series martial art that’s basically Avatar x Persona, a Martial Art about using the sound of bullets clashing for sound magic, a Martial Art to create blood constructs, and a martial art that’s basically esoteric ghost shibari!

Concepts

Concepts have been decoupled from Tungkulin and have almost all the things you need to quick-create a character. There’s a huge 1d20 list now in the Character Creation that has new concepts and revamped concepts! Each one of them tied to the lore.

Acts of Gahum

A few new things you can do with Gahum! Respire, Transcend Limits, and Gahum Armor.

Sitan Hunters coming sometime this Sunday, hang tight. The first scenario that you can use to run a 3+ session game or to have something to insert into your own campaigns! For some lit, urban action horror.
